The SpaceMouse Pro Wireless, as well as the SpaceMouse Pro shown below, are in the middle of the product line. They use the same 6-degrees-of-freedom controller cap as the other SpaceMouse products. You can move the cap straight up/down/left/right/forward/backward to pan and zoom, or twist it to rotate. The base is much larger than a standard SpaceMouse and features an ergonomic soft-coated hand rest.
The 3DxWare 10 software gives you the power to customize the cap operation and sensitivity. Each SpaceMouse Pro also has 15 programmable buttons that are conveniently placed for easy access. The first are a set of 4 large soft-touch buttons at the top that can have their assigned commands displayed on your computer screen, and are intelligent enough to change as you switch applications. You can bind a variety of things to any button, from single keys or commands, to customized macros containing multiple inputs. For full flexibility you can create and bind custom radial menus with up to 8 keys/commands/macros each. When you press a button the assigned radial menu will appear so you can click on, or gesture toward, the required function with your mouse.
Next up there are 4 buttons on the left that are bound to common keyboard keys by default. You can use them to reduce hand travel to your keyboard, or program them to do something else entirely. A fifth button, labelled Menu, can also be found here that opens the 3DxWare preferences by default.
The right side has 4 buttons that give you quick access to a variety of different views by default. The rotation lock button in the middle will let you pan and zoom without worrying about rotating things at the same time. There’s also a sixth button, labelled Fit, that will zoom to the extents of your project.
The SpaceMouse Pro Wireless uses 2.4GHz technology powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery. It can last up to two months before it needs charging again, based on 8 hours of use a day for 5 days a week. You can keep working while it’s charging by using the included USB cable to convert it into a wired device. The included 3Dconnexion receiver is low profile and can support up to 5 different wireless devices. If you only have a single USB port available the included twin-port USB hub will let you plug both the receiver and the charging cable in without having to swap them.
Although it’s bigger than a standard SpaceMouse, you can still take it on the go with you. The SpaceMouse Pro Wireless comes with a lightweight durable carry case to keep it safe while traveling.
The SpaceMouse Pro Wireless measures in at 204mm L x 142mm W x 58mm H (8" L x 5.6" W x 2.3" H) and weighs 563g (19.86oz).
